what a couple of weeks

Well didn’t we all have a blast at Bourton’s, in Bargoed, with the amazing Katie Lou last Friday - her style of indie folk was a winner and we can’t wait to have her back with her full band for our Band Night at Newbridge Memo on May 19th.

Next up at Bourton’s is Tom Crow & The Ghostriders on May 5th. Our team will be split that weekend with half in Bargoed and the other half in Wrexham, where we will be giving out the official programme with our TIWN Magazine: FOCUS Wales Edition featuring The Coral, Cerys Hafana, Squid, Juice Menace, The Joy Formidable and so much more.

Last Friday at The Muse in Brecon was our first Storyteller Evening there, thank you to everyone that came out to watch the sublime Rob Lear. A highlight reel of the night will be posted shortly so keep your eyes peeled on our YouTube.

The Welsh Connections playlist show continues to pull in the listeners worldwide with over 200,000 weekly listeners and Craig celebrated his first year hosting the show since taking over from Mike - and talking of Mike, he’s got interviews lined up with Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson, 60’s icon Engelbert Humperdinck and Jonny Williams!

At The Second 45, Wales Folk Nominees Tapestri played an incredible intimate set on Thursday 13th ahead of their filming across the road at Tinopolis for Heno and Nos Llawen.

TIWNFEST was a spectical. A huge thank you to everyone that played, partied and helped on Saturday at the biggest event we’ve held so far. We really couldn’t have done it without any of you and it was fantastic to see so many happy shiny people at Newbridge RFC for TIWNFEST.

We’d like to thank our partners and sponsors  - Jon (GSD Media), Jonathan (Cobra Music), Radio Wigwam, JAMMA, Up To 11 Events, Welsh Connections, The Second 45 and The Practice Pad

We’d also like to thank the musicians - Paisley Parc, The Vanities, Jasmine Rose, Miles Per Minute, Barney Barnett, Rob Lear, Tom Crow & The Ghostriders, Blank Face, Kaysha Louvain, Frankie Wesson, Huw James, Katie Lou, Rowan Coombes, Paterson & Karen Gemma Brewer.

15 amazing artists across 2 stages at one venue - From Mike and Craig a huge thank you goes to Kaysha for, not only playing but also, organising the whole event from the floorboards up. What a star! When’s the next one?

And finally, Dave Mustaine! We gave you a little teaser last week. Dave’s tour manager contacted Welsh Connections to ask if we could put him in touch with anyone from Budgie - obviously Mike is good friends with Ray Phillips so he’s linked them up! We’ve also asked for an interview... Watch this space!
