New Project Launch
It’s a hard thing to hear, and our blog from last week certainly got a reaction, but it had to be said ! We’ve not only ploughed time into the original live music nights at the Newbridge Memo but also a lot of money and the support from the venue has been huge but if tickets aren’t sold we can hold the events. Last week we made the difficult decision to cancel two events due to low ticket sales. The artists booked to play were top-class and very disappointed not to play but what can you do? Pre-order your tickets. It’s simple. Support these events that you told us you wanted. Use it or lose it.
We do have some things to celebrate though as our Welsh Connections show scored its 27th No.1 show of 2023 when Mike’s interview with jazz legend Dave Cottle hit the top spot in two Mixcloud charts - the latest show with Nick Capaldi is currently at No.3! Coming soon are US jazz bass player Robert Miller and The Heavy North. Out now is the former frontman of The Scooters, Chris Kelly joining Mike to talk about his former band and a 'new' release by Frankley Parc - a project that has sat on the back burner for a number of years. A fascinating insight into the world of rock'n'roll accompanied by Chris' music over the years. Enjoy!
There’s a live event at The Second 45 this coming Saturday too when Steve Johnson from The Anonymous Iconoclasts takes to the stage in our favourite record shop! And on the same day, in Swansea, Gordon Wride plays live at The Uplands Market.
We are getting some fantastic films being entered into The Celynen Film Festival and there’s still plenty of time to enter yours - unleash your talent to our panel of film-maker judges!
Now for the news, we teased yesterday…
Support Grassroots Music Project Fund
TIWN Media was established in July 2022 with one singular purpose and that was to help support upcoming bands/artists in Wales. Our quarterly magazine, print-on-demand merchandise, live events and PR services have allowed us to work with a huge number of grassroots musicians and assist in their growth and development. With all of the success we have had over the past 18 months, we have decided to create our own ‘Support Grassroots Music’ Project Fund.
We are currently in a world where the likes of Spotify are allowed to change their payment algorithms so that even less money goes to the ‘smaller’ artists, it’s only people like us who can make that difference by shouting out about grassroots artists and bringing them to your attention!
WE PRESENT TO YOU OUR “SUPPORT GRASSROOTS” COLLECTION OF T-SHIRTS, HOODIES, PIN BADGES, HATS AND MUGS!
All profits made will go into the fund, where at the end of each month we will randomly select an upcoming band that has applied via our website form. Not only will you be taking a stand for grassroots music, but you will know that the money you spend will be vital to a local band’s growth.
