We ‘Connected’ with Diversity

Diversity - Connected at Swansea Arena (07/06/22)

Since being crowned the 2009 winners of Britain’s Got Talent, Diversity have been keeping audiences engaged and enthralled with their live shows, and TV appearances, inspiring a whole new generation of dancers and performers around the world.

They’ve completed  nine sell out tours and won the 2021 BAFTA for their Black Lives Matter routine. Now they are in Swansea’s new Arena with their critically acclaimed Connected Tour. We thought we’d go along to see if the Connected tour lived up to all the hype!

The Connected tour is very much of the moment and centres around our connection with the digital world looking at how we use it in our daily lives and routine. Choreographer, Ashley Banjo explores the extent to which we are all connected, through our mobile phones and in some cases, how this digital world is also pushing us to disconnect from the real world around us. It’s a scary subject when you start to think about it - and that’s what this show does. It makes you think. If this all sounds a bit dark and depressing, don’t panic, the amazing routines are absolutely mesmerising.

We’re not going to give the game away, or the routines, but the opening scene with Perri is breathtaking and Ashley’s solo routine spellbinding as we’re treated to big screen images and backdrops of the Diversity family while the music keeps everything moving with everything ranging from rock to hip-hop to classical and everything inbetween.

Diversity are a group who know how to hold an audience and they achieve this by involving the audience - the interaction is heartwarming and we even got to take part in an audio recording for the dance-off. We didn’t get this with Royal Blood!

This is a show for all ages and fantastic family entertainment from start to finish.

At the end of the show the group performed their award- winning Black Lives Matter routine and to see this live is incredible - it was the most anticipated moment of the evening and received a well deserved standing ovation, which clearly moved the group.

Would we recommend Diversity’s ‘Connected’ ? You betcha! You gotta get yourself connected… good title for a song that!
