SLAVA UKRAINI

Revolution Rabbit Deluxe Release Charity Single 'Slava Ukraini' in support of Ukraine.

In response to the crisis in Ukraine, SWND artist Revolution Rabbit Deluxe has rush-released a charity single in support of the efforts to ease the suffering of Ukrainian refugees. Entitled 'Slava Ukraini', the single is released officially on Friday 11th March but is available now for download. All income from the sales of 'Slava Ukraini' will be donated to the International Red Cross Ukraine fund.

Below, Rev Rabb of Revolution Rabbit Deluxes provides background to the motivation behind the release:

“As a musician, I pretty much had only one option to reach out to the Ukrainians: song. I had an odd little chord sequence that had appeared a few days before the conflict so I began riffing on that. I suddenly found the opening verse but wanted a rousing chorus that could be sung by anyone. I knew i wanted to include some Ukrainian in the song so settled on the phrase, "Slava Ukraini".

“Why ‘Slava Ukraini’? Although it means Glory to Ukraine, I chose that phrase as it can be used as a common greeting in the country. I wanted to let the Ukrainian people know that their valiant struggle was not unwitnessed. That people saw and are responding to their predicament.

“Shouldn't musicians stay out of politics? Firstly, that is said by everyone whose opinion you disagree with. If you happen to agree with someone they laud you for your perception of the facts. Secondly, while we acknowledge that the conflict is complex and that we are not privy to all the facts, Revolution Rabbit Deluxe are a political band. We respond to everything within our society that grieves us: injustice, inequality, hate and racism.

"We will continue to document what we see as fundamentally unjust conditions and situations within society, domestically and internationally. Slava Ukraini!”

Revolution Rabbit Deluxe:

Led by the enigmatic Rev Rabb, the genre-breaking Revolution Rabbit Deluxe are a three-piece alternative rock band with punky overtones. Revolution Rabbit Deluxe (RRD) began as a solo project but soon evolved into a working band based around Blackwood, in the heart of the South Wales valleys. Their brand of melody-driven innovative indie/alt-rock has gathered excellent reviews, along with regular airplay. They’ve recently been played on the BBC and are poised to conquer mainstream radio. In January 2021, RRD was named the runner-up in Brecon Indie Reviews ‘Band of the Year’ category. They described RRD as “these dudes have masterful talent; are wonderfully bizarre and have no imagination ceiling.” At the end of 2021, RRD signed to SWND Records.

Revolution Rabbit Deluxe consists of Rev Rabb who plays guitars and sings lead vocals. Ben Davies plays bass and sings with the help of large amounts of black coffee. Dave H. plays trains and drives drums, but he can’t remember which way around it is.
