Bittersweet Symphonies

We’ve had cause to celebrate this week as Craig’s latest Welsh Connections Playlist show shot to the No.1 spot on the Global Mixcloud Charts - holding Mike’s first interview show of 2023 at No.2 ! It was like Joe Dolce and Ultravox all over again, younger readers may need to Google this.

Mr Bewlay’s tour continues to rampage across the country with substantial worldwide airplay for his latest release and some great online interviews to support “Tormentor”.

The Hepburns packed out The Second 45 in Llanelli last Saturday at the showcase for their new album (out on Lavender Sweep Records now)

It’s the latest Band Night at the Newbridge Memo this Friday - Tom Crow & The Ghost Riders with special guests BOWEN will be taking to the stage at 8pm - you can get your tickets here!

Many of you will have already heard that our dear friend, and magazine contributor, Keith Williams has passed away. For those of you that attend out live events you will have seen Keith and probably chatted with him and got to know a little about the man - but what you probably didn’t know was that Keith was a genuine Hollywood music video pioneer who worked with dozens of the biggest names in the world of music and film. For people who grew up in the 80’s Keith made the soundtrack to our lives with videos for Supertramp, Donna Summer, Olivia Newton John, Elton John, Phil Collins, The Buggles, Billy Idol and so many more. He also met up and advised Michael Jackson, Madonna, Barbara Streisand and partied with a drunk Tina Turner and a three legged dog ! He sold film scripts to Burt Lancaster and gave Robert Downey Jr his first film role ! He made a feature film with Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) starring Christopher Lee and recently won a European film award for, what would become his final work, Morgue.

Despite all his achievements Keith remained down to Earth and one of the loveliest people you could ever meet who was full of new ideas and concepts. It’s still difficult for us all to accept that he’s gone. Next time you have a drink, raise a glass and spare a thought to our much missed, and loved, friend Keith x
