Welsh Connections Playlist Announcement
After almost two years presenting the Welsh Connections Playlist Show every week Craig has made the difficult decision to step down to concentrate on other projects.
He’s had an incredible two years playing over 1,500 tracks from Welsh artists and, with regular #1 spots on the Mixcloud charts and amassing a global audience of over 200,000 weekly listeners, he’s going out on a high.
“I’ve had an absolute blast playing all of the incredibly awesome and diverse music that has come from Welsh bands and artists (plus those with a Welsh connection) over the last two years - Wales is indeed leading the way in producing world class music.
I’d like to thank every single person that I’ve met along the way - artists, musicians, singers, songwriters, producers, managers, labels, PR companies, music fans, etc - you’ve all been inspiring and encouraging and supportive, and it’s has been an absolute privilege to be able to share your music and talents to the world.
To my Welsh Connections/TIWN Media colleagues - Mike Kennedy and Kaysha Louvain - thanks for the opportunity to present the show each week and for your continued support and friendship.
Also to all of the radio stations and broadcasters who have put the show out faithfully each week as part of their schedule - Rockin Waves (US), Blues & Roots (Canada), The Sound Cafe (Canada), Oystermouth Radio, Onda Wantuki (Spain), U&I Radio, Radio Wigwam, Able Radio, Mixcloud, Sleeve Notes - thank you for all of your support, not just for the show, but for music (and Welsh music) in general.
Finally to everyone who has ever tuned into the show - whether as a casual or regular listener - it has been an honour to share that hour with you each week. I hope that you’ve enjoyed each show as much as I have.
For anyone wanting to keep up to date on my whereabouts/stay in touch I’ll still be continuing working with the TIWN team, plus you can follow me on my solo music social media pages - just search ‘Secret Postal Society’.”
Just because Craig is leaving the show though doesn’t mean that this is the end of the Welsh Connections Playlist Show.
As Mike passed the Welsh Connections Playlist torch to Craig, Craig is now passing the torch to our new presenter.
So please give a warm TIWN Media and Welsh Connectons Playlist Croeso/Welcome to Esme Thomson…
“Shwmae Pawb! Hello everyone, I am Esme Thomson the new presenter of the Welsh Connections Playlist. I’m in my first year of studying Journalism at university, and have a real love for radio. I began presenting on the Cardiff and Porth based Radio Platfform and have been obsessed ever since.
Being able to play music and connect with listeners is something I strive to do. I enjoy discovering new artists and expanding my knowledge of music, a hobby that radio has enabled me to do.
As I am Welsh, I feel its vital to give artists with a Welsh connection the platform to showcase their talent and music and what better outlet than here on the Welsh Connections Playlist show.
I enjoy all genres and cannot wait to learn more about Welsh artists and music as the new host of the Welsh Connections Playlist!” - Esme
We’re over the moon that Esme has joined the team and can’t wait to hear her first show on Sunday March 3rd at 6pm.
