Born To Reign - Fxxk 9 to 5

Born To Reign's "FxxK 9 to 5" is less a motivational pep talk and more a raw, unfiltered scream of frustration directed at the drudgery and perceived meaninglessness of the 9-to-5 grind.

Adam Melbourne also known as Born To Reign is a British singer-songwriter from Birmingham, that established himself for the first time in Port Talbot back in 2016. Having lived in Spain for the past few years, Born To Reign is now back in Swansea reconnecting with artists & musicians on new projects.

Inspired by American Pie the movie and channeling the spirit of Green Day, Blink-182, Sum 41, Busted, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne, FxxK 9 to 5 combines a throwback attitude with a bold modern edge — a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever dreamed of ditching the 9-to-5 grind.

It's an aggressive, almost cathartic expression of the anxieties and disillusionment felt by many who feel trapped in a cycle of labour that offers little fulfillment. While its abrasive language might be off-putting to some, the underlying message resonates deeply with those who question the conventional path of career-driven success.

Born To Reign doesn't shy away from expressing the darker, more subversive thoughts that many suppress in the workplace. It taps into the simmering resentment that can build from feeling undervalued, overlooked, and creatively stifled. This honesty, albeit delivered with a blunt instrument, is what gives the song its punch.

However, "FxxK 9 to 5" is not without its limitations. Its negativity, while relatable, can be overwhelming. The song's relentless pessimism, while arguably a realistic portrayal of certain experiences, risks perpetuating a sense of hopelessness.

Ultimately, it's a visceral, albeit somewhat bleak, expression of the discontent that can arise from feeling trapped in a soul-crushing routine. It's a rallying cry for the disillusioned, a validation of the anxieties surrounding modern work culture. While its aggressive tone and lack of solutions might not appeal to everyone, its raw honesty and unapologetic expression of frustration are undeniable and contribute to its provocative impact.

It's a song that doesn't offer answers, but instead asks the uncomfortable questions that many are afraid to voice. It's a sonic middle finger to the status quo, leaving the listener to ponder their own relationship with the daily grind.
